When skin or organs are damaged, the body tries to heal itself through the formation of a scar. Scar tissue is fibrous, connective tissue that replaces damaged or destroyed tissue following trauma or injury (e.g. due to a wound, post surgery, after a chemical or thermal burn etc). Because scar tissue has a limited blood supply, it is usually paler, thicker and denser than the surrounding area. Scar tissue in the skin is also less resistant to UV radiation and has no sweat glands or hair follicles.
The Natural Chemist's Scar Oil helps heal and reduce the appearance of new or old scars or keloids, burns, trauma wounds, stretch marks and other areas of injury. It may also be used as preventative therapy to strengthen, tone and nourish the skin prior to surgery. If used early enough following an injury, Scar Oil may also prevent the formation of scar tissue.
